The International Military Protestant Convention (the RIMP)
In 1951 a few Protestant soldiers decided to meet at «the Musée du Désert», an important place for French Protestantism, to share their faith in Christ and their attachment to God.
As time passed, this meeting became the International Military Protestant Convention (“RIMP”), a place of sharing, renewal, and growth in faith for military Christians from Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Great Britain, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, America, Canada, the Ivory Coast, the Czech Republic, Lettonia, Slovenia, and of course France (home country and overseas).
Today, the “RIMP” gathers just about 500 Protestant soldiers coming from 20 different countries. This year, our meditation is based on the theme: “GOING THROUGH CRISES”
This RIMP is authorized by the French Ministry of the Defence, it is under the auspices of the Chief of the French armies staff. We wait for all people, in the military or civilians of Defence ministries from all countries. The RIMP will take place at the “Espace Gard Découvertes” of Méjannes-Le-Clap (Gard) from Thursday 20th June (welcome from 17.00), to Sunday 23rd June, leaving at 14.00.
All information, the detailed programme, the workshops, Church services and hymns will be written in a welcome file given at your arrival. The “RIMP” is a military event and takes place in uniform (current service clothes or battle-dress). On Sunday morning: “summer” sortie clothes (short-sleeved shirt). For all participants accommodated in a dormitory, sheets are provided.

ace Gard Découvertes" am Ortsrand von Méjannes Le Clap - findet vom 19. - 22. Juni 2014 das RIMP - "Rassemblement International Militaire Protestant" zum Thema "Gott - ganz nah oder ganz fern?!" statt.
Seit 1951 gibt es die „Internationale Begegnung protestantischer Soldaten“ in Südfrankreich. Damals kamen fünfzehn französische Soldaten zusammen, um sich über ihren christlichen Glauben auszutauschen.
Inzwischen treffen sich 15 bis 20 verschiedene Nationen. 500 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer - Angehörige der verschiedenen Streitkräfte und Militärseelsorgen - feiern miteinander Gottesdienste, reden und diskutieren über ihren Dienst und ihren Glauben, besuchen Orte und Städte, die eng mit der Geschichte der evangelischen Christen in Frankreich verbunden sind.
Auch allgemeine Fragen des Dienstes werden in den Gesprächen immer wieder diskutiert. Es ist die besondere Atmosphäre in einer herrlichen Landschaft, der nicht zu große sondern eher familiäre Rahmen, geprägt von Kameradschaft und Freundschaft über Grenzen und Dienstgrade hinweg, welches bei allen Beteiligten immer wieder einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlässt. Le 62ème Rassemblement International Militaire Protestant (RIMP) se déroulera à Méjannes Le Clap, dans le Gard, du jeudi 20 au dimanche 23 juin 2013.
Il abordera cette année une thématique qui fera sens pour le plus grand nombre : « Traversées de crises ».
Ce rassemblement, unique en Europe, réunit chaque année des centaines de militaires et de civils. Une vingtaine de nations y sont représentées, en majorité européennes mais également africaines et nord-américaines. Le RIMP est un temps exceptionnel de rencontres et de partages entre chrétiens protestants, issus de divers pays et armées.
Dans une ambiance à la fois recueillie et festive, ce rassemblement permet aux participants de découvrir et d’approfondir des études éthiques, morales et spirituelles sur les défis quotidiens et concrets de la vie militaire.
Le Rassemblement International Militaire Protestant est autorisé par le ministre français de la Défense, et ordonné par le chef d’Etat-major des Armées.
En France, l’Aumônerie protestante aux Armées est un service commun des Eglises, chargée en leur nom et sous la responsabilité de la Fédération protestante de France, d’assurer le ministère de l’Evangile auprès des militaires et, le cas échéant, de leur famille en accord avec les instances concernées.
